Wills and Trust Deed Fees

There is no legal requirement for a Will to be written by a solicitor or qualified Will Writer.  You can write a will without a solicitor’s help, however there are many circumstances where this is not advisable.

If you care about what happens to your property after you die, you should make a will. Without one, the State directs who inherits, so your friends, favourite charities and relatives may get nothing. It is particularly important to make a will if:

  • You are not married to your partner
  • You have children
  • You have others who are dependent upon you
  • Your permanent home is not in the UK, but you own assets here
  • You have overseas property
  • You own all or part of a business

There are three main reasons why you should make a will:

  1. So that you decide who will inherit your possessions and money. Without a will your money may not go to the people you would like it to.
  2. When you die your estate may be subject to Inheritance Tax. Making a will with the aid of an Inheritance Tax expert can potentially reduce the amounts your dependents will have to pay to the Government in inheritance tax.
  3. You can indicate what arrangements you want in place for caring for your infant children in the event that both parents die at the same time.

Wason Male & Wagland LLP can help you with writing your will and advising you on the benefits and pitfalls of setting up trusts.  They will also outline for you issues that arise when applying for Probate so that you can prepare your affairs in advance to ensure your close relatives will be able to administer your estate on your passing with as little drama as possible.

You will receive personal attention, the benefit of our considerable expertise in this area, and a prompt and sympathetic service.

There are various legal formalities you need to follow to make sure that your will is valid. Without the help of an expert, there’s a real risk you could make a mistake, which could cause problems for your family and friends after your death.

Most of our clients will require a standard Will or Mirror Wills.  You can be assured that no matter how long it takes to get your Will right you will be charged our fixed fee – as quoted below.

If, upon meeting with you and discussing your circumstances, it appears that you need more complex advice due to a need for inheritance tax planning or for a trust to be included in your Will, then we will indicate to you the likely length of time it will take and you will have the option to continue with a basic Will or follow up on the advice and any time spent will then be charged according to the hourly rates below.
